My wife and I went into Dr. Roger Koreen's office to get our skin checked and a few problem areas treated. We did not have any skin doctor and others we tried had appointments that were over 6 months away. We were pleased to get an appointment not too far in advance. When we got there the office was pleasant and the people nice. Dr Koreen was very friendly and took his time in caring for us. Later, I came back for further treatment and again it was a pleasant experience. I thanked him for his knowledge and ability to help me out. Thanks Dr. Koreen!Marianne WMore reviews
Unfortunately, I have had many experiences with doctors. My father had recommended me to Dr. Koreen about 15 years ago. First you will be greeted by very friendly and warm receptionists. The waiting room is extremely clean and comfortable with plenty of seating, magazines and TV’s. The wait time is always reasonable (10-15mins) considering Dr. Koreen always spends quality time for exam and questions (never rushed). He always educates you on the most modern treatments and offering the best options. Dr. Koreen now treats my teenage kids after many years of superior treatment and second to none care. I strongly trust and highly recommend Dr. Koreen and his staff.Thomas MMore reviews

Plantar wart removal from your Huntington, NY dermatologist
By Dr. Roger Koreen
Warts are caused by virial infections of the skin and are a result of direct contact with the virus. When a wart occurs on the bottom of the foot, it is called a plantar wart. The name comes from their location, which is the plantar area of the foot. At the Dermatology & Cosmetic Laser Center in Huntington, NY, we have the expertise to diagnose and removal plantar warts.
What causes plantar warts?
Plantar warts can be contracted in swimming pools or showers. Individuals with sweaty feet may also have an increased risk of being infected by the wart virus. While plantar warts are not highly contagious, they can be picked up in certain situations. If there is a member of the family with plantar warts it’s important to clean the shower floor regularly. Individuals with plantar warts should not share shoes with others as it can expose them to the infection.
What do warts look like?
Warts look like thick areas of scaly skin. They can be small or can cluster together to affect a larger area. The best way to distinguish a wart from a callus is to squeeze the area between your fingers. A plantar wart will be painful, while a callus will not.
Treating plantar warts
There are many different methods for treating plantar warts. In most cases, over the counter solutions are not strong enough to effectively treat the thick skin on the bottom of the foot. At our office, we offer the following methods:
Freezing with liquid nitrogen
Excision or removal of the plantar wart has the highest success rate of all the treatments we offer and generally results in the lowest rate of recurrence. The procedure can cause mild discomfort that may persist for a few days.
